Partitions

Two glasses and a bottle of wine
Dates, June 30, July 15, cling to their meaning
Do you remember ?

Partitions
Each division brings suffering:
Lebanon
There is no Lebanon
Syria
There is no Syria
Iraq
There is no Iraq
Israel
There is no Israel.
And now, the makers-of-lines,
these partitioners,
see their own handiwork.
Great Britain
There is no Great Britain.

Do these dates hold memories for you ?
Two glasses and a bottle of wine.
These sit, waiting your return
A return that may never be.

On that island
in the nest of pine boughs, that protected area
Our place,
I return,
Empty, deserted
Abandonded.

Partitions
Divisions
When they make them we suffer for generations.
Partitions
When you make them
the suffering is continuous.
