Unwisely, and Too Well…..

Were I to have lived
in a socialist paradise
out of the sphere of this capitalist world
would it still be so ?
Would there still be a price to pay –
and such a price –
For having loved
unwisely
and too well

What price, having opened my heart ?
No blame, I must ask –
blame, if any, is mine –
But what is the price ?

Every waking moment
I plumb such depths
sadness
As if
dying slowly
As if
someone so dear to me
now gone
dead
And away from her
unable to see, talk
to her
I slowly fade
dying too

For one moment
just one
I felt joy
loved
A love unknown to me
For one moment
And now,
And now?

Like Telstar
off its axis
dead or dying
spinning off into space

Who knows where this ends
how this ends.

Rumi –
heart whose true color is restored
by the sun –
how would you end this ?
Tell me

Having loved
unwisely
and too well.
