My Dream and Hope

A dream
my search for you
Your love for me
my hope

Through dimensions
in time
I’ve wandered
searching, calling
In desperation, despair
Helen !
Persephanie !
Penelope !
Where, my love,
where are you ?

A door opens
another closes

A waterfront cafe
what city is this ?
Where ? Italy, Greece
What time is this ?
Where are you ?

Your scent, a brief flutter in the air
as you pass
These I can smell, feel
Where are you ?

A dream
my search for you
Your love for me
my hope

A door opens
another closes

Passing through
surrounded by the wild
Howling through passes, pines and scrub
an angry wind curses me, mocking
An abyss
stretches before me as far as I can see
In my search for you
for this dream
I leap

No fear holds me back
Leaping,
silently, silently falling
No fear

Silence,
only the sound of water parting with each stroke
At sea,
looking for the island, any island
anyplace to rest
Looking for you
No fear

Panic pulls at me,
at the remnants of a heart
This creature of the sea
of the mist
A void into which all strength, all hope
is consumed

A dream
my search for you
Your love for me
my hope

A door opens
another closes

Bruised, bloodied
alone, unarmed
How have I come here ?
Yes, my love, yes
it is part of my search for you
this is why

Am I being tested ?
Surrounded by jackals you wish to ensure
I am not one
Am I being tested ?
Do you doubt my love ?
With so many wounds are you fearful of more ?
Am I being tested ?
No fear

A dream
my search for you
Your love for me
my hope

Never
until I find you
will I cease
Never

The abyss calls to me
pulls at me
The home of my family
bloodied
calls my name
What city is this ?
Genoa, Athens, Damascus

My search for you
is a search for love, justice, joy
Answering this call
will I lose all

One door closes…
