Stepping Out

Escaping
the electronic cocoon
through darkened halls
lonely stairwells

The morning chill embraces
The rosy-fingered dawn caresses
Confederate-gray and union-blue tufts
populate our azure sky

In the distance
Malou
Malou
Counting heartbeats
Counting breaths

I see you
I feel you
Fingers intertwined
Shoulders brush
