I Snuck Into Your Room

I came into your room
the night was deep
and the house quiet.

I sat at the side of your bed
watched you breathe
watched you smile in your sleep

I kissed you gently
on your head
and whispered to you:

My love
I was here.

To wish you
a good evening
to tell you
I love you

For a moment
to be complete

Then
quietly
I left
and flew
on the wings of your love
into exile
