I Am Gone, You Say

Awakening
Morning
The rosy fingered dawn
creeping over
hills

Mist creeping through
hollows
valleys
dancing with
trees

I looked and saw
my
love
was gone

Tears before bed
sobs before sleep
sighs through the night

Why was she
gone ?
I reached out to her
she passed through me
as if I wasn’t there

I saw her
I felt her pain
I tasted her suffering

Why was she gone ?
We are halved.
Like an eagle floating through air
A fish pushing through water

How
my love
do you pass through me ?

How
my love
can you not take my hand ?

How my love
can you say
“I can’t. It is too late” ?

My heart
My eyes
My soul
My half

These words
have such
dark
meaning

My love
I am not gone
I am not leaving

Will you give up ?
Will you tell me:
I am gone ?

My love
how can it be ?
