The Other September 11th – forgotten here

Who remembers ?

You left the colonia
where all worked as one
Tierra y libertad

Generations of “I”
slowly replaced by

Perhaps this worked too well
too well
In the night of day
bulldozers flew
planes crawled
troops marched

The colonia was no more
cursed by those who would not to understand
that what you desired,
was a place to live
In dignity
To watch your flowers smile
and children bloom.

Who remembers ?

12 September, 1973
